Zombies During The Plague

Love love love this book. I'm halfway through and I'm blown away by not only the action,but the author's attention to detail. I can tell he's done his research because he refers to medieval weapons by their real names. I find myself looking up the names he mentions because I don't know what they are. Also, he writes in the ignorance of the people of that time as to their understanding of what caused the Plague (they had ridiculous theories). Besides these details, it's a great action packed book. Instead of zombies chasing gun-toting Americans, we have clashes in open fields between knights and medieval foot soldiers vs. zombies. For a book written in 2016, I can't believe I'm the first person to write a review here in 2020. If you like zombie/EOW type scenarios and period pieces, give this book a try. Fantastic. Zombies vs. medieval soldiers, what more do you want?

Fantastic read. Chivalrous knights and archers vs. zombies. Plenty of action; and the author just conveyed a great sense of these times and what life would've been like back then. On an off-the-wall note; I loved the type size and font of this book. Large enough for my old eyes and the style (I don't know what it's called) of lettering was great. A relatable protagonist struggles to keep his kingdom and family from falling victim to the undead, and there is conflict from both inside and outside the walls of Colleville. I am a fan of The Walking Dead, and anything medieval... The author did a great job blending the two genres together. The book reads very easily, and has a great pace that carries through until the end. All in all, brilliant! —- "James K."

I really enjoyed this book

I really enjoyed this book. I do not ordinarily enjoy zombie type books but this one really kept my interest. The author did a great job and was very knowledgeable regarding the time period, dress and weaponry of the time. I would definately recommend this book. —- "Sharon C."

Post-Mortem Thriller

The best historical fiction books are almost believable. In this case, blending zombies with the Black Plague. In the year 1436, knight Sir Richard de Colleville of Gloucester and his family are set upon by a ravaging disease that turns its victims into undead monsters. What starts out as a strange, single incident quickly unfolds in a horrific nightmare where Sir Richard and his men are desperately trying to keep their families and villagers safe from the claws of death. The terror seems to be brought so much closer when understanding that these men aren't fighting zombies with shotguns or bombs like we would today, simply because they can't. It makes the conflict that much more raw and fearful. This causes both the characters and reader to be drown closer to the undead The author writes in such a drawn closer to the undead. The author writes in such a way that it is as if he himself is standing in Sir Richard's boots. As the reader, you are seeing what he's seeing, hearing what he's hearing, and all in incredible vivid detail. It's like watching a movie. That's a skill not all writers possess. The reader is dropped into the heat of battle with man vs. monster and is buffeted about along with Sir Richard. In contrast, you feel the tense stillness within the manor walls while waiting with bated breath for danger to strike from around the next corner... -- "LD."
